The results of the 2009 most popular baby names in England and Wales have been released by the Office for National Statistics. So if you’re buying a baby gift for an Oliver or Olivia, don’t be surprised – they’re officially the most popular names for a baby boy and baby girl! Here are the full top ten names for 2009:
Having been at number 1 for the last 14 years, Jack fell down to number 2 followed by Harry (3), Alfie (4), Joshua (5), Thomas (6), Charlie (7), William (8), James (9) and Daniel 10th.
Olivia stayed at number 1 for the second year, followed by Ruby (2), then Chloe (3), Emily (4), Sophie (5), Jessica (6), Grace (7), Lily (8), Amelia (9) and Evie at 10th.
There were no new entries in either the boys or the girls top 10 names.
