Growing baby toys

November 9th, 2009

It’s easy to forget how much babies develop in their first year, and how quickly they will need new baby toys as they grow. Choosing baby gifts for a newborn is great fun and a lovely excuse to browse through a range such as ours at Born Gifted, looking at all the possible personalised baby gifts for little ones.

Babies at six months will be excited by different baby toys from the newborn so this is a good opportunity to repeat the enjoyment of looking for interesting activities and personalised baby gifts in a different age group.

The best way to find out what the baby will enjoy is to spend some time with them, playing with them and finding out what interests them. It is surprising how soon small babies develop likes and dislikes and can come up with interests that are an eye-opener even to their parents.

By about six months or even younger, many babies will be really attracted to music and sounds, such as toy musical instruments or books that make the noises of animals. Singing and dancing are another good way of entertaining a baby of this age and it doesn’t matter at all whether you think you can sing well or not, as luckily baby won’t notice, they will just enjoy the tune and the movement.

Babies of this age will begin to be able to clap along with a song and will enjoy doing this with you to their favourite CD or musical baby toy.

The first birthday

November 6th, 2009

It’s an exciting day when your child reaches their first birthday, but probably not for them as they are too young to understand the significance of the day. For the parents, there is all the pleasure of choosing the first birthday gifts and planning the birthday celebration.

This is an occasion that traditionally includes grandparents and aunts and uncles, as all the relatives come together to enjoy looking back at the first year. For many parents, it seems impossible that a whole year has gone by, and the difference between the new baby and the now active toddler is amazing.

Charting the progress made during those first 12 months shows how much has changed, both for the child and the parents, and all those photographs will be studied hard! First birthday parties are probably more for the adults than the birthday girl or boy, but they are likely to take great pleasure in receiving first birthday gifts and being the centre of attention, even if they don’t really know what it is all about.

By this age, the child will have a definite personality and likes and dislikes, so you can advise relatives and friends on what sort of presents the little one will enjoy. We at Born Gifted have a wide range of all types of first birthday gifts so you can make it easy to decide what is exactly the right gift for your one year old. It can be a practical idea to ask some people to give a toy that is a little old for the child that they will grow into, so that there is a new activity ready for them when they reach the right stage.

If you’re looking for toys for them to grow in to, we have a range of big brother and big sister gifts for you to view on our website.

Christening gifts for the new baby

November 4th, 2009

A Christening is a special occasion for a new mum and dad and for the rest of the family. It is a time when relatives who haven’t yet met the new arrival can do so and an opportunity to invite the relatives who live far away, so that the new baby provides a happy opportunity for everyone to enjoy some family time together.

For families who are religious it is of course an event that has real meaning, and for those who do not believe in religion strongly, it is still a tradition that can be followed by having a naming ceremony instead.

Dressing the new baby in the special christening gown or shawl, perhaps especially bought or, even better, handed down through the family is a lovely feeling for new parents, as is dressing up themselves and being reminded that there is a world outside sleepless nights and nappy changing.

Christening gifts for the new baby can be as enjoyable to choose as to receive, particularly because they don’t have to be practical as the tradition of christening gifts is to give something that the baby can keep forever, perhaps silver christening gifts, or maybe a bible or prayer book, as can be found here at Born Gifted.

Having the family around to talk to and spend time with can give a great boost to new parents who may be feeling a bit isolated and unsure of their new role. Receiving good wishes and christening gifts may well provide just the lift needed. To lift new mums, we also have a range of new mum gifts for you to choose from.

Baby showers to give baby gifts

November 2nd, 2009

Baby showers might be a new idea to some people, but they are a practical way of making sure the new mums and dads to be receive some useful baby gifts as well as having some fun.

If you can get together with a couple of friends or work colleagues, you could arrange a baby shower in one of your homes so that the parents to be don’t have to worry about any of the arrangements or clearing up. Some people enjoy organising a baby-themed quiz for the event, or you may prefer to make it more of a party with food and music. Again, it’s up to you whether you make it a girls only event or if partners are invited as well.

As long as it is not a surprise event of course, the expectant mum could suggest some of the people she would like to invite alongside the group of friends who are arranging things. A baby shower party is an opportunity to talk about everything to do with babies, and to discuss baby toys and which ones those who have some experience have found best.

Of course, if this is the first baby in your group, then the discussion will be more theoretical, but none the less interesting all the same.  Here at Born Gifted, we have plenty of inspiration for you.

For a mum to be, the last three months of pregnancy can seem to last a very long time, so having a get together and receiving baby gifts is a pleasant antidote to the waiting. We also have a range of new mum gifts for you to peruse on our website, as well as personalised baby gifts.

The etiquette of giving Christening gifts

October 19th, 2009

A Christening is a joyous occasion. It is the kind of occasion that brings friends and family together, resulting in a joyous celebration of the new life that has just been welcomed into the Christian faith. It is little wonder then that christening gifts are such big business.

Depending on what kind of family you have, a christening could easily turn into a case of who can buy the most ostentatious gift. Alternately, big gifts could be seen as inappropriate. So what do you do if you are faced with buying christening gifts and no idea what to buy?

So what is the proper etiquette when giving christening gifts?

When looking for christening gifts, the general idea is to gain clues from the family involved. Think about the other major life milestones and how this family has celebrated; for example what kinds of wedding gifts did they receive? What kinds of gifts were given at the baby shower? You definitely do not want to double up on gifts they may have already received.

christening gifts are generally small, with teddy bears and photo frames being completely acceptable gift choices. Browsing online may give some useful ideas you can use. At Born Gifted, you can browse our extensive collection online, without having to leave the comfort of your home.

We have a large selection of Baptism and Christening gifts, everything from photo frames to cutlery sets to personalized gifts. Delivery of most items is within 1-4 working days, meaning even if you have left things to the last minute, you can order the perfect Christening gift with the click of a mouse!

Buying safe baby toys: Toy safety 101

October 16th, 2009

How do you know how to which baby toys are safe? Unsafe baby toys can come in a variety of forms. Whether its sharp objects or toys made from unsafe materials, there are many dangers lurking in some of the baby toys on the market today. Choosing safe baby toys for your baby is always something at the back of a parent’s mind.

The law and baby toys

Many countries around the world have stringent laws regulating the manufacturing and sale of baby toys. Amongst the standards imposed by the EU, baby toys may not contain PVC phthalates, BPA, use lead paint or have sharp edges. Although many of the regulations are common sense, they do require that all baby toys be marked with the age appropriateness of the toy.

Some tips for safe baby toys

Keep in mind that babies like to put things in their mouth, meaning that toys should be washable. Think of buying wooden toys to eliminate the possibility of any dangerous plastic toxins. When buying baby gifts look for soft toys, clothes and diapers made from organic fibres. Try to choose gifts that are made of natural materials instead of plastics wherever possible.

At Born Gifted, you can be assured all the most stringent safety standards are met with all baby toys. Choose from a wide selection of safe baby toys; and select a toy that is as special as the baby in your life is.

Baby toys are not just cute

October 14th, 2009

Congratulations on the birth of your beautiful baby! Your journey ahead is one of great adventure and discovery and we would like to make it every bit as adventurous as it deserves to be.

Fluffy teddies and little baby toys are fabulous to show how people love you and welcome your little one into the world, but baby toys also serve another greater, far more valuable service than just providing smiles or a snuggly friend to cuddle up with. Although the shape and design of baby toys has evolved over the years, the importance of baby toys has not lost its essence.

Baby toys were often called pacifiers and teachers. The reasons for this were simply because of the roles that various toys played in the development of the baby. Through the teething stages, babies were often given a nice relatively chewy toy to cut their teeth, today we have very nicely designed teething toys that accomplish the same effect.

Toys help our babies develop stronger, both mentally and physically

By buying baby toys for your little one you basically invest in their future, as certain toys are modelled around physical development and other toys are modelled around mental development. Little toys that encourage your baby to push them around build good strong legs and help with the cramps that baby’s often feel during growth.

At later stages, colour blocks and soft colour toys help your baby to distinguish colours which is great for their mental development. You will find these toys and more right here on our website.
