Royal Selangor
Royal Selangor is the most famous pewter brand names in the World. Originally known as Selangor Pewter, the company was founded in 1885 and has since gone from strength to strength, employing a workforce of more than 600 skilled craftsmen in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The company produce a vast array of beautiful pewter items, including superb childrens ranges which make really stunning and original new baby, Baptism or Christening gifts.

What is Pewter?
Pewter is an alloy composed of tin, with small amounts of copper and antimony to add strength. Pewter used to also contain lead but no longer does due to international safety standards.

The childrens ranges from Royal Selangor are:

Teddy Bears Picnic, Winnie the Pooh and the Ark ranges - they all make extremely popular gifts for baby boys and baby girls.

Royal Selangor’s Teddy Bears Picnic Range:
The design is based on the children’s nursery rhyme that begins ‘If you go down in the woods today…..’ and features a teddy bears’ fun and games on a summery day. It’s an extremely popular gift range that allows families to collect various pieces thereby building up their own ‘Teddy Bears Picnic’ range for displaying at home.
Items in the range include the ever-popular Musical Carousel, Picnic Bubble Blower, Cutlery Sets, Trinket Boxes, Diningware, Money Boxes and Toys.
For many, teddy bears and nursery rhymes make up a very special part of our childhood memories and these pieces capture the essence of childhood for the lifetime ahead.

Royal Selangor’s Disney Showcase Collection – Winnie The Pooh Range:
The author A.A. Milne (born 1882), found inspiration in one of his school teachers, H.G. Wells who himself went on to become a famous writer. He had a varied career as a writer and author, before marrying Dorothy De Selincourt in 1913 and going into the Army for four years until 1919. In 1920 they produced a son, Christopher Robin Milne.

A.A.Milne (Alan) had written a short verse for his son and gave it to his wife as a gift. She sent it away to magazines and his verses became so popular, he decided to write a book, and then later “Winnie the Pooh” (1926). Alan took his inspiration from Christopher’s toys and from there “House at Pooh Corner” (1928) was written. The illustrator E.H.Shepard used his own son’s teddy ‘Growler’ as the model for Winnie the Pooh. Today, Winnie the Pooh remains one of the best-loved childrens stories in the World and an extremely popular giftware collection.
Each design in the collection brings to life the scenes from the books, making them excellent collectibles for adults and children alike.

Items in this collection include the extremely popular toothpot, musical carousels, moneybox, trinket box, tableware and rattle.

The Ark Range
The designer Nick Munro produced this fabulous contemporary Christening range for Royal Selangor, based on threatened and endangered species of the world. The Ark range educates children about the earths most precious creatures as well as inspiring conversation and having practical usage.

All of these collections make excellent childrens gifts – not only for Christenings and Baptisms, but to celebrate a new baby, birthday tea party or any other special occasion in a childs life. All the pieces will eventually become cherished treasures of the future.
